What Led Me To Becoming A Fractional CTO?

After 30+ years in tech (back when “the cloud” was just weather), I’ve seen just about every flavor of digital chaos—especially in high-compliance industries like insurance, finance, and healthcare. Somewhere between helping FMOs wrangle agent onboarding and fixing one too many "temporary" solutions still in production three years later, I realized something:

Most companies don’t just need a consultant.

They need someone who’s willing to own the tech—but without demanding stock options, a corner office, or a 9-figure salary.

That’s where I come in.

What starts as a simple project ("Can you look at our CRM?") often turns into a full-blown digital transformation ("Also… we need a new website, cybersecurity strategy, and maybe a time machine to fix past IT decisions").

This kind of mission creep isn’t unusual—but it is inefficient. Over time, I realized that if I was going to be responsible for the outcomes anyway, it made more sense to take a more structured, strategic role from the start.

As a Fractional CTO, I bring not just leadership, but a proven method for managing multiple projects and scaling companies—one that allows me to step in, take real ownership, and drive initiatives across departments without the chaos (or committee meetings that could’ve been emails).

And here's what really sets me apart: I don’t just understand the compliance-heavy worlds of insurance, finance, and healthcare—I’ve lived them.

  • I hold my insurance license and Series 65, so I know firsthand what it takes to stay compliant while still growing fast.

  • Before I pivoted full-time into tech, I also had a successful career in the medical field, which gives me unique insight into the operational and regulatory pressures healthcare organizations face every day.

Enter: the Fractional CTO.
(That’s me. Kind of like a Swiss Army knife, but for your entire tech stack.)

If you've ever wondered whether you need a consultant, a CTO, or just someone to herd all your platforms into one place (without violating HIPAA or FINRA rules), I wrote something just for you:
